Lateral Opportunities

The addition of strong lateral attorneys at both the associate and partner level is integral to our firm’s growth plan for the future.  Therefore, we are continuously striving to create a firm where lawyers want to be.  We can talk in generalities about life at Thomas|Genshaft— a sense of collegiality, a commitment to team work and training, a healthy balance of work and play — and while we have all that, we know you’ve heard it all before.  So here are the facts:

A Small Firm with a Big Practice

Practicing law in a small town doesn’t make one a small town lawyer.  Our attorneys work every day with highly sophisticated clients on multi-million dollar projects.

Exposure to Substantial Experience Early

Clients expect the best legal services at the most cost-effective rates. Thomas|Genshaft meets these expectations by quickly developing associate competence with exposure to substantial, hands-on experience early in your career.

Balance Between Law and Life

We choose to live and work in Aspen because…well, it’s Aspen.  So we strongly encourage everyone at our firm to find that balance of providing personal pursuits.  The firm’s reasonable billable hour goals and slope-side location allow personnel to pursue family, community and other professional endeavors.

Hiring for the Long Term

Thomas|Genshaft seeks to hire attorneys who are interested in a collegial place to practice law and who demonstrate the potential to ultimately join the firm as a partner.   Unlike many firms, attorneys may be considered for partnership as soon as they satisfy the firm’s criteria for admission. The firm does not have an arbitrary time period that associates must work prior to consideration.

Sharing in the Profits

Thomas|Genshaft rewards all attorneys for their efforts to generate new business, offering a “Business Origination” bonus designed to incentivize every attorney to generate new work that contributes to the profits of the firm. In this way, everyone attorney is given the opportunity to share in that sense and pride of “ownership” by participating in a share of the profits for revenue you generate, even if you aren’t an equity partner.
